Review of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) by Michael & Kim — 03 Feb 2010
"Punish!" This 1984 shocker was actually pulled from theaters due to scenes considered to be too disturbing. Billy watches the murder of his parents, and is sent off to an orphanage where things just aren't quite right.
Move forward, Billy is 18 and gets a job at a department store where he is asked to play Santa Claus. Billy snaps and the carnage ensues. Darker and more intense than other films of its time. Several sequels followed, but never captured the uneasiness of their predecessor.
Very hard to find, but worth the search.
