After seeing Lord Nasbys Slasher films on Chrisman he never got it right so I am reviewing the one for Christmas and a very controversial film from the early 80s Santa as an axe wilding killer. Sorry I am sending this out early before Christmas I already now one thing I am getting from my perants a 3D TV OMG well hopefully. So back to the review the title says it all and the poster so I bought this for the big day but ended up watching is sooner but this movie is okay but it will be great for every year to come.

A young boy watches his parents killed by a thief in a Santa suit. He spends his youth in an orphanage, staying quietly to his self, but his mind is further bent by an ironhanded Mother Superior. He finally gets a job at a local store, where he finally snaps when he is required to wear a Santa suit, and goes on a killing spree that leads him slowly back to the orphanage. Along the way he brutal murders people with an axe and claims they were being very naughty.

The film starts off very strong but then hits downhill near the end I could have called this the best slasher ever made but it hits the ground sometimes when it trails off into what slashers regular do. I only bought this because it was bundled with the second and it was $14 at JB-HI-FI so I got it and that for Christmas. The acting is extremely good better for these types of movies but our lead has some major flaws. The special effects are extremely good some really graphic and cool killing scenes. The major problem is it gets boring in the middle and slow.

Here are some facts I found.

The release of this film was picketed by angry parents who were not happy to see Santa Claus depicted as an axe murderer. As a result, box office sales plummeted and the film was shelved for another year where it saw new light in an uncut video form (that has since gone out of print).

This film was planned to be a limited release but open wider by Christmas, but the protest canned the idea, and was pulled after two weeks of release.

This film was known as "Slayride" though out its production. Tri-Star decided to change the title to "Silent Night, Deadly Night" at the last minute.

The Anchor Bay DVD splices in the gore footage with the theatrical print making it the most complete version containing all of the gore and nudity.

So great film to watch I guess better for its type and tell your kids if you don't behave this Santa will have one hell of a time and my final verdict is recommended.
