Review of Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) by Jeff — 07 May 2008
One of my alltime favorite slasher films. "Silent Night, Deadly Night" is one of the most controversial slasher films cause of the film being about a man dressed up as Santa Claus, killing people.
back in 1984, the PTA protested against this film and was removed from theatres. The film is about a boy named Billy Chapman, who along with his parents and baby broher go to visit his grandfather at a mental hospital and as they leave him alone.
Billy's grandfather tells him all about Santa Claus and that he only brings presents to the ones that have been good and that all the naughty ones, he punishes. Later that night, Billy's parents get killed by a killer in a Santa Claus suit, leaving Billy and his brother, Ricky, orphaned.
Later on, Billy is in an orphanage where an iron fisted mother superior makes Billy's life a living hell. As Billy grows up to be a teen,he gets a job at a toy store and later on, his boss has him play Santa Claus and later on Christmas Eve, he snaps and goes out on a killing spree, punishing the naughty.
A cool film, still love this movie to much.
