The rebirth of Vaudeville-style slapstick in the common movie era. the plot itself wasn't very deep or intricate, but nor were they in silent films either. brilliant cast, amazing sight gags and physical comedy, and a great homage to Hollywood past and present--a true Mel Brooks gem.
