Review of Silent Hill (2006) by Conor M — 14 Apr 2018
This film is by far the best video game adaptation ever. However, as a film by itself it still holds it's own.
It's story, setting, atmosphere and creature designs feel almost completely ripped from the video games. It's respectful to the source material but does change some things.
There are some issues with the film like a massive info dump towards the end of the film which is just an exposition overload. And the film isn't all that scary, at least when compared to the video games. But the film does a lot of visual story telling, subtle horror and representation through the world and monsters.
This film is basically everything Silent Hill, if you're a fan you'll enjoy this film. If not, it's still a great film that will make you think more than you would expect it to.
