Review of Silence (2017) by Andythemovieman 2 — 21 Jul 2017
Welll, it depends how you want to look at it. It is without a doubt yet another story of the horrible, idiotic shit that happens because of religion. It never ends. Some damn religion is being brutally oppressed here (while, no doubt, oppressing other religions just as brutally and stupidly in other parts of the world.
) But okay, if you get past that and accept that the characters are dopey yet wilfull simpletons who can't help their stupidity, what happens is sort of interesting. The movie is well made and thoughtful within those parameters.
Kind of long though. Not high on the rewatchability spectrum. Ultimately it does not seem totally dispassionate to me; it comes across as slightly pro-whatever-religion. That lowers its rating from me.
6 out of 10.
