Over 2h30 may be too long for some viewers, especially for those who don't find the story very interesting, which is what hurt the box office results. But Scorcese's latest work is a very impressive, thought-provoking, emotional and intense movie, it's not a horror movie at all, but it is actually a little disturbing.

Studying the human nature and faith, and going deep into it, and with a great lead performance by Andrew Garfield, if you're curious enough and have the courage for a very long running time, this is one to check out.
