Review of signs (2014) by Ben J — 27 Aug 2012
Strangely inhuman vessels of dramatic dialogue go through a plot that defeats itself entirely.
..............
REST OF REVIEW WITH SPOILERS: (sorry but I feel they are essential in pointing out what is so fatally wrong with the film.) As has been pointed out by Shyamalan's less willing followers: water? really? a race of aliens advanced enough to master space travel attack a globe that is by its very nature absolutely fatal to them? It's just too stupid, and certainly the pantry doors raise some questions. Why did they attack? are they so clueless as to attack a planet without studying its environment? Maybe they are like the ol' usa during the nam years, but on a universal scale, and that is a reality I am unwilling to accept. Maybe I'm looking to deep?, do I need to mention again that the script and acting are unconvincingly inhuman with the an overly dramatic tone? that alone is enough reason to call this one a stinker. 2 stars for so bad it's good cred.
