Review of Side Effects (2013) by Adrian Z — 31 Aug 2013
Gripping medical thriller which sees Jude Law in reliably good form as a psychiatrist who prescribes a new drug to suicidal patient Rooney Mara (excellent), only to find his world falling apart when the drug has a most unexpected side effect, or does it? Terrific script, brought to screen in an effectively subdued manner by director Soderbergh, who makes sure to ground everything in reality.
It does seem to run out of steam at the final stretch, but it's not a significant issue when the film is so solid.
