Review of Side Effects (2013) by Jonny D — 22 Nov 2013
Side Effects will leave you with exactly that side effects with no cure of the movie.
A mind trip a thriller full of dialogue that twists and turns left and right upside down reverse. A real headcase.
At first I was like meh this movie is your standard physiological thriller that is a straight line.
Rooney Mara puts in a terrific performance as the on again and off again head case girl in the centre of this picture.
Channing Tatum plays his role well but kind of robotic and lifeless, like the last G.I Joe movie he doesn't last long so if your a fan of his maybe give it a miss.
Not a movie for all and definitely not a movie for the kiddies.
The other side of the coin is that the story it tells you about mind controlling drugs and what cause and effect can be when using them.
Personally as a still capable Youth Worker. When dealing with matters of the mind with clients I prefer Cognitive Therapies not drug induced nor electrical charges to the brain.
Catherine Zeta Jones plays a role this is nothing too special but has a strong connection in the overall story of this movie.
If you like mind trips you will enjoy this but it will take 30 mins before it has any substance as its setting up the story till then.
