Review of Sicko (2007) by Alex R — 27 Sep 2009

Michael Moore sure loves ruffling feathers and stirring up controversy. This isn't a complaint against Moore, but merely just a statement. Sicko fits in perfectly with Moore's other documentaries, such as Bowling for Columbine and Fahrenheit 9/11. Once again director Moore takes aim at the United State government by shedding light on it's health care problems.

Moore sticks to his usual format and highlights the major flaws present with our current health system. Sometimes what he has to say is hard and extremely eye opening. I promise you that you will learn something while viewing this documentary. As an American I was sometimes disgusted by the levels it seems we have slumped to. It would seem that no one really has a concern for their fellow man.

I really appreciate Moore's use of humor and wit. He also uses not so subtle sarcasm in his pursuit of bringing this issue to the open for all to see. There are some heavy topics discussed here and anytime things lighten up for a moment it is welcomed.

With health care reform being a major issue in the United States now, I think it would be beneficial to check this out. Keep in mind though that not everyone will agree with the opinions on display in Sicko.
