Review of Sicko (2007) by Michael L — 28 Dec 2011
Typical Michael Moore fare. You have your complete one sided view of things which allow the film to be entertaining. What is it with Michael Moore and making Canada seem like the promised land? I am a huge supporter of Universal health care but doesn't balance the good of Canada's health care to the negatives of long waiting lists, etc.
What I did find interesting was his visit to France and observing their health care system which portrayed as a spa and resort system (which includes home visits by doctors and maids who help mothers with newborns by doing their laundry and helping with supper).
When I see this in a Michael Moore film I'll take it with a grain of salt but even if it is remotely true we need to send our health care officials over there and find out how they do it. I'm not saying I want the government to do my laundry but ideas of having a minimum 5 weeks of holidays (even for part timers) would I think definitely lessen my stress load when I'm in the working class.
