Review of Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) by Alan H — 28 Jun 2018
Ho-hum. A B movie lacking the cinematography and direction that D Villeneuve and R Deakins created with the original. I don't think Josh lost enough weight after Legacy of a WT Deer Hunter and looked too heavy, and I didn't feel his or Del Toro's depiction of their characters matched the original.
Watch both movies back to back and you'll see what I mean. The plot was dry and boring and the movie could have used a more serious approach with a longer run time and greater character development.
I didn't feel enough of an emotional connection to the girl's fate. It was still fun overall. New Mexico looked beautiful. Hopefully movies continue to be made there.
