Been a while since I saw the first film. A film I didn't really like and my least favorite from Villeneuve. There's a new director here, Stefano Sollima, and he has done some solid pieces of work earlier, like "Suburra" and the "Gomorra"-series, that I've heard good things of. I'm not sure how it picks up from the first, but I guess it does. It has many of the same faces and there is still a war on drugs.

This time there is some druglord that get's hunted down and the bad good guys also kidnap his teenage daughter. This is a wild ride, with neat guns, explotions and brutal violence. I kind of like it. The first hour plus is good. I'm never bored, it's interesting and actionpacked. It's silly and overdone at times, but I can dig it. Later on it turn too much and there are plotholes and stupid solutions all over. Sad thing, really - it was on to something that might have been better than the first one, a film that was OK plus at best. OK performances here and the entertainment value is rather high, but a few misplaced steps makes it wiggly.

So, it looks like the first two of this coming trilogy was all right, but not amazing. I hope the final part don't ruin the entire thing. I really dig that the amazing song from the first film "The Beast" by Jóhann Jóhannsson is in this one as well. Rest in peace.

5.5 out of 10 balaclavas.
