Review of Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) by White_Bear — 23 Oct 2020
The first Sicario did not have open end but still it success required a mandatory cashgrab called sequel. This time we need to forget that revenge is already completed by eliminating of drug lord and his entire family.
The story has to be repeated but this time another drug lord and no children killing. The guy who cold blooded killed children to revenge his daughter will save and protect spoiled and violent drug princess.
There is a lot of violence the similar to the previous part but the logic and common sense is different. In the first movie 10 guys were killed meters from US borders and no media covered it. Now they killed dozens of guys in the middle of Mexico desert and it is covered by every outlet.
Diplomatic scandal they say, but still they allowed 2 military helicopters to cross the border to shoot other guys. In the middle of international scandal between US and Mexico? The next day of Mexican Police assasination by US CIA? The main guy is shot in the head, survived, casually killed two random bandits with a single grenade and on its route to save the girl and revenge himself, but suddenly the screen blackened and we see him fine and healty talking about some Sicario BS.
The End. Nicely Done, impressive that is even shorter story telling that Game of Thrones 8 season but similar character arcs progression.
