Review of Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) by Bo H — 04 Jul 2018
Saw this movie yesterday- liked it very much. Unlike some others, I found the plot to be coherent and gripping (those who think the beginning sequence has nothing to do with the rest of the movie, for instance, need to pay better attention).
Strengths of the movie include the acting (Del Toro, Brolin, and Moner are all terrific), the score (very effective at establishing chaos and foreboding), and the sets/ screenplay (having spent some time in the places portrayed- feels right).
My favorite aspect of the movie is the depth of the main characters: both Brolin and Del Toro make moral choices to extend compassion in circumstances characterized by extreme brutality- much appreciated by this viewer.
