Review of Sicario: Day of the Soldado (2018) by Piero I — 05 Jul 2018
Minus the subtlety of Denis' clear minimalist vision, (See: French: Derrida, Arrival, Blade runner, etc) and Emily, (See: The only human character apparently conflicted about cold blooded murder) this film comes off as a knockoff of the original, in bro flick packaging.
While the heavyweights here, "Bro"-Lin (see what I did there?) and Del Toro easily carry this kind of material, (Gruesome, slice-your-neithers-off-for-revenge early era Peckinpah flavored bloodfest) hollywood once again comes up with a lesser product while (Once again) Screwing over the female lead, with the excuse: "We couldn't figure out a way to write her into the script" .
I am glad this didn't happened with her in the "Edge of tomorrow " franchise, which is hinting at a sequel directed by Doug Liman.
Blunt brings a lot of change and human damage to these parts, making them more human, and less Anime. The effect here is a gaping hole where chaos and emotional risk were.
Basically I could care less if any of these bros die in their length contest.
Your move, Sollima.
