Review of Sicario (2015) by Riff J — 06 Mar 2016

This isn't the typical Cartel movie that glorifies drugs, drug dealers and violence. It doesn't portray them as rock stars with unlimited money and model girlfriends. It actually isn't about them at all, in a way. It's about the war against them. And this is an intellectual thriller more than an action thriller, but it's so good that it actually manages to serve up both. The suspense is gripping, and it's very hard to predict what will happen next, hence it's very interesting and exciting. It's definitely a movie that will leave you thinking about what you have just seen.

The acting is really good, led by Emily Blunt and Benicio Del Toro. Both evoke a sense of empathy that's required for the movie to have it's desired effect. And the visuals are good too, making the movie enjoyable to watch, as well as think about.
