Review of Shrek Forever After (2010) by Sidney C — 09 Oct 2011
A lot more interesting and memorable than the third one (even though this one's getting a lower rating), but the franchise just doesn't have the spark or charm anymore. the characters are repetitive, the jokes are less funny, and Rumpelstiltskin is just another cookie cutter magical villain.
the witches, the pied piper, the new ogres...they're dull. they don't add anything. the story is just It's a Wonderful Life crossed with Santa Clause 3. the best part about this movie is Shrek and Fiona's relationship--the constant testing of it is also repetitive, but this time it somehow felt a lot more real.
