It's hard to imagine what the mysterious director Paul Verhoeven was thinking when he constructed the disastrous Showgirls. Is he making a satire of the Las Vegas mainstay? Or is he taking a dramatic look at complex element of American entertainment? Regardless of the answer, it's clear that the lead, Elizabeth Berkley, has not business acting outside of the confines of Bayside.
Showgirls is a unique cinematic beast that remains puzzling more than 15 years after it's initial release.
