Review of Shotgun Stories (2007) by Sam P — 31 Jul 2011
A great southern gothic indie film about the consequences of rivalry and revenge. Thankfully, it is not a gleeful bloodletting in the vein of Tarantino. This is the stuff of Faulkner-esque literature, deftly composed characters who act as real people do.
Michael Shannon is very compelling as Son, the eldest of one group of two feuding broods. There is an irony in the use of "shotgun" in the title that is only made clear by the film's end.
I won't spoil it.
