Review of Shotgun Stories (2007) by Dan F — 21 Feb 2013
A slow, thoughtful movie about poverty, revenge, and inheritance. Very quietly disturbing, with Malick-ian asides, slowly building tension, and quick, non-cathartic bursts of violence. Very well acted by a cast of unknowns and the superb Michael Shannon.
Lacks, however, the focus and intensity of Nichols' follow-up, the masterful "Take Shelter.".
