Review of Shortbus (2006) by Laura W — 21 Jan 2009

I was really surprised by this film. I knew it had a sizable following, but doubted its aims. The sex is explicit, yes, but approaching it with an open mind, I felt as though none of it was overly eroticized in any way.

The characters are people I would never want to know, and I often found myself looking down on them for their hangups and sometimes unmotivated promiscuity, but I felt for each and every one of them nevertheless.

This is a very well-written film with unbelievable performances from unexperienced actors.
