Shortbus is a remarkable exploration of the interconnection between love and sex. It may be the first film ever to include actual sexual exchange in the development of character. The film delves into the emotions aroused by sex and the role of sex in finding meaning and purpose in one's life and relationships.
The music, as in Hedwig, is also wonderful.
