Phenomenal performances all around. Brie Larson and John Gallagher Jr. breathe life into their complex characters, whose backgrounds are revealed throughout the movie. The at-risk teens made up the perfect supporting cast for Larson and Gallagher to play off of.
The film is beautifully shot and perfectly encapsulates the mood of the scene. The film plays off a lot of the insecurities of the characters, that one could not help but get caught up in. Although pretty heavy and dramatic throughout, the film balances it out with well placed humor.
