Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Ryan K — 28 Aug 2007
At first we get the feeling that this is nothing more than a white, feel-good, suburban ensemble film, but as it moves on it starts getting darker -- the caricatures become real humans; too real -- and as we go on this humanity is presented with all its faults giving us an almost misanthropic picture of life in LA.
Undeniably depressing at the end, the performances are impressive and the fact that the very broad collection of stories come together without feeling in any way forced is to the full credit of a very capable director.
