Robert Altman's monster of a movie that is unafraid to flaunt it's enormous cast in equal amounts of screen and interweaving storylines. Based on nine short stories by Raymond Carver, Altman effortlessly ties these stories together with some great character interaction, making one realize how small a world we live in.

Really small, in fact. PT Anderson practically remade this film years later. But both have their seperate qualities that keep one from mimicking the other. The performances here are fantastic, especially the brief appearance by Jack Lemmon.

An excellent character study that leaves little to be desired afterward. If you can, get the Criterion Collection version of this, because it comes with the nine stories in one volume.
