Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Jason C — 07 Jul 2008
Incredibly long given the brevity of the Raymond Carver stories that spawned Altman's multi-faceted adaptation, however its a neccessary evil considering Altman's successful binding of characters whose material differences are overshadowed by similar insecurities and emotional detachments.
Beautifully stuctured yet paradoxically improvisational, it would be interesting to know how Carver would have felt about Altman's adaptation.
