Review of Short Cuts (1993) by Mark H — 28 Jul 2011
A masterpiece, and one of the finest films of the nineties, and should have been nominated for best picture. The film doesn't have a main plot, and tells the many tales of peoples struggles and triumphs living in southern California.
Like Altman's film "The Player" (1992), there are many famous faces found in the film, and all do a fantastic job. In 1999, Director Paul Thomas Anderson made "Magnolia", a different film, but had the same type of story.
His film was good, but made me angry while I was watching it. This was not the case with Short Cuts. Instead, I was enjoying every single second of it. A fantastic film that must be seen. I will even go as far as saying that it should have beat the overrated Schindler's List for best picture.
