Review of Shopgirl (2005) by Difa F — 28 Jul 2008
This movie slipped my interest 3 year ago as Steve Martin's history with slapstick comedy and Claire Danes's acting credentials are not of the highest regards from me. I was wrong. After watching tis movie on a lazy Sunday night, this movie was amazingly well written in an endering manner which is just impossible to imagine that Steve Martin penned it down.
The initial story line of a young shopgirl with a dream to be an artist having an affair with an older richer guy - doesn't top my list of the story of the year - but the main issue which break down the age, social and classifications in society is the initimacy and distance between two individuals which not even physical connection can bring it together.
Give this movie a chance and be pleasantly surprised.
