Review of Shopgirl (2005) by Sugeiny T — 23 Mar 2008
"Oh shit! It's a mint, not a condom!" hahahahaha!!!!!! Claaaaassssic!!!! hahaha Jason Schwartzman is fantastic! I can't believe I used to hate this guy! The truth is that it wasn't until the other day that I found the pleasures of watching him.
His performance here was great, really funny, he was probably the best character and the best portrayed too. Then there's Claire Danes who I simply love and adore on anything she does. The development of her depression was sick! and her portrayal was perfect! The normalcy of the average woman was dealt in a serious and very moving way.
And Steve Martin, surprised me! I'd usually say that I dislike this man a lot! But this character was so different from other things he's done before and he was really good at it! So I can't hate him on it.
This movie was just sweet, a little slow... true, which is the reason I'm not giving this a higher rate even though maybe I should... but definitely worth the watch. The settings were beautiful, I mean it made me just want to look at the screen to figure out the places.
The soundtrack was really cool, by the way! Oh there was another thing I didn't love about it... the narrated parts... I don't know I think those narrated parts were unnecesary, as an expectator I could've implyed them, all the narration did was loose my afinity of the story! Still.
.. Bottom line... I really enjoyed it.
