Review of Shopgirl (2005) by Todd H — 12 Oct 2008
Ironically pretentious since the actors try so hard to be understated. I think the direction is at fault here for that, but I like the portrait of Mirabelle, which is quite penetrating. The film accepts her as a woman on her own terms and shows us how difficult it is to be a young woman in a world of detached men.
