Review of Shopgirl (2005) by Ivan C — 30 Jul 2011
Shopgirl is based on Steve Martins novella of the same name. In it, we met Mirabel, a sweet single girl that moved to the big city to find herself, she works for the department store in the ladies glove department.
In her day to day life she mets two very different men: one is Jeremy a good natured but maladjusted young man that genuinely cares for Mirabel but is simply not ready for a relationship. the second is Ray the charming and intelligent older man that quickly sweeps Mirabel off of her feet but is unable to commit to her, the film introduces us to the trials and pitfalls of relationships and how we suffer and at the same time grow because of them.
I loved the great performances from Steve Martin and Claire Danes in their May-November romance, and also a very beautiful and enjoyable soundtrack. Check this films out, I believe you'll enjoy it.
