Review of Shopgirl (2005) by Trevor R — 31 Mar 2013
The three lead performances are rather good, particularly the lovely Claire Danes. It's also a hoot seeing Jason Schwartzman in an unexpectedly offbeat grunge slacker-type role. I enjoyed "Shopgirl" well enough, but it just didn't really stick with me-- it's not funny enough to be a great comedy, not romantic enough to be a great romance, and not powerful enough to be a great drama.
The score is also super cheesy. Pleasant, but totally forgettable.
