Review of Sholay (1975) by Daren P — 27 Dec 2010
A slice of Bollywood history, here--or, so I'm told. It's a timeless tale of good vs. evil and the redemption of bad men through heroism, sacrifice, and love. I found this Bollywood take unique due, in part, to the music and dance numbers which would be unthinkable in a similar film produced nearly anywhere else but which fit nicely into the overall story.
(The dance in the bandit's camp is unforgettable.) Great performances and Bollywood's unique stamp make this familiar tale into a memorable cinematic experience.
