Review of Shock Corridor (1963) by Zoran S — 26 Sep 2008
One of the most gloriously lurid films ever made. If The Big Red One is the best film from Sam Fuller, this is his most definitive: covering everything from psychoanalysis, fetishism, racism, and madness.
Beautifully shot in black and white by Stanley Cortez, the film is a joy to look at even when the lurid story verges on the ridiculous. By far the best film set in a madhouse and the most hilarious Freudian melodrama ever made.
This film is so good, and made me so deliriously happy while watching it that I can't wait to re-watch it. A deal-breaker film: any friend, family member, etc who does not like it must be shunned! Also, I plan on walking around asking, "Who Killed Sloan in the Kitchen?" over and over again.
