Review of Shinjuku Incident (2009) by Akash G — 20 Dec 2009
The underlying moral of Derek Yee's "Shinjuku Incident" is hardly new: Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Brutal sequences of gangland retribution are juxtaposed with touching depictions of harmony and humanity. The film's most major pitfall lies in its uneven pacing, which certainly takes away some of the narrative's staying power and results in a somewhat unsatisfying final movement.
Pretty much nothing that we wouldn't have seen yet in dozens of mobster movies.
