Review of Shine a Light (2008) by David L — 03 Jun 2008
Never seen them in concert, but now I feel I have.
That is the greatest compliment that I could give martin Scorsese for this concert film.
They look like the living dead, but move like they are teenagers.
My only problem is that they didn't play my favorite songs Gimme Shelter, and you can't always get what you want, from them.
But that is an unfair criticism. The film totally justifies its cinematic release. Scorsese just creates one of the most entertaining concert movies ever made since his own 'the last waltz' and it's because of how gorgeously shot and cinematic this actually is.
Edited with great insightful interviews with the band over time, and some great backstage peeks.
Brilliant concert. Great film.
