Review of Shine a Light (2008) by Mike S — 15 Feb 2012
The Rolling Stones were a few decades past their peak when Shine a Light was filmed. However, the footage does present many examples that Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood, and company were still capable of putting on an energetic and engaging show.
Cameos from Buddy Guy, Jack White, and Christina Aguilera add new dimensions to the familiar material while Martin Scorsese's direction provides strong perspective to the performances. Naturally, Shine a Light is very skippable for those who have no love for the band.
Fans, however, will be pleased by this well-shot feature.
