Review of Shine (1996) by Sandra S — 12 Apr 2009
It's based on the true story of David Helfgott, a genious piano player who suffered a mental breakdown early in his life mainly because of his demanding father who was jealous and abusive as well. His father probably has more mental problems than his son and it was a bad influence to his career.
However, father and son were both obssessed by the music. And the masterful performance of Geoffrey Rush opened doors to him in the cinema and he also won an award of Best Actor for his performance because he deserved it.
The story is pretty interesting and the cinematography very well done.
