Review of Shine (1996) by Jeffrey C — 15 Jul 2010
Nice turn by Geoffrey Rush and Noah Taylor. If you read up on the real story, however, you'll notice Helfgott himself was not mistreated by his father, and in real life is considered a pretty average pianist by people who know way more than I do about music.
So, treating this as a mostly-fictional account, it's a good movie. As a biopic, it sucks.
