Review of She's Having a Baby (1988) by Debbie V — 23 Aug 2008

I recently saw this again for the first time since seeing it in the theater in the 80s. Strangely enough, this film seems more dated than any other of Hughes' flicks. Both characters seemed rather dull and lifeless except for McGovern's bedroom rant ("I'll have to BURN the sheets!") and I couldn't help but echo the sentiments of Baldwin's character, the most introspective, honest and interesting one in the film.

Too bad he was only in it for about 5 minutes. It had a great Kate Bush song on the track over a montage of lively scenes from the marriage it would have been nice to see earlier. Hughes was trying to make a statement about marriage, fatherhood and finally growing up but I think it misfired.
