Review of She's Gotta Have It (1986) by John E — 16 Apr 2008
Not Spike's strongest or best film but not a bad start for a first time writer/director feature film. Here Spike tackles the topic of sex at times the film is slightly akward, as you can see that the man's trying to find his writers feet.
And I'd say it was quite the controversial topic as well the way sexual identity was depicted in this film least a bit raw for that time era. But this film show us the emergance of a brilliant film-maker it's here we see Spike Lee natch for strong dialouge and his well crafted, well rounded intelligent and non-sterotypical black people come to life.
