Review of Sherrybaby (2006) by Sugeiny T — 12 Dec 2008
After looking for it on video stores for over a year, I finally found it and rented it. I knew I was gonna enjoy it no matter what, I mean Maggie Gyllenhaal is immensely talented (despite her performance on The Dark Knight, but that was the character's fault not hers).
I didn't know what the movie was about, I just knew it was about a mother trying to get back her daughter. Still, her presence and the title itself developed a desire and a need on me to watch it.
When I finally saw it I was amused by the way the cinematography was done, it was obviously independently made and low budget but it was so carefully proyected that I had no option but to revel on it.
The development of her character was amazing, they way she was not only a drug addict and a woman struggling, but she had a very solid background of problems that made her even stronger and Maggie portrayed her marvelously and heartbreakingly touching.
