Review of Sherlock Holmes (2009) by Aaron M — 05 Jul 2014
Sherlock Holmes as a movie is everything Robert Downey Jr's character is; witty, sophisticated, smooth and exhilarating. Guy Ritchie forms a wonderful style which includes some delicious fighting sequences induced by Sherlock Holmes renowned abilities adding further edge to what would usually be just a buddy cop detective movie.
Although undoubtedly Hollywooded out it still feels british due to superb settings, props and characters. Mark Strong is a wonderful actor who makes a great villain. You don't quite expect the brutal nature of Sherlocks fighting capabilities which isn't wholeheartedly believable but it works because Ritchie makes it work.
