Review of Sherlock Holmes (2009) by Tricia M — 25 Apr 2015

I am quite fond of action movies. So, unsurprisingly, I liked this movie very much. It's fast-paced and evokes the atmosphere of Victorian England very well. The re-imagining of the friendship between Holmes and Watson works (with Watson no longer being the slightly thick sidekick who serves only as an excuse for Sherlock Holmes to laboriously and pedantically set out the reasoning behind his conclusions).

While, of course, there are the usual loud explosions necessary for an action movie these days, there are also a few comic touches throughout the movie that were quite amusing. The plot is completely far-fetched, but it only really serves as an excuse to see Holmes and Watson run around London beating bad guys up.

So, it doesn't hold the movie back, nor does it keep it from being really fun!
