Review of Shelter (2007) by Bob M — 15 Feb 2009
This is a rather good little independent movie. One element is a fairly predictable coming out story but equally important is a more original story about family. The love interest is between a cute 20sh young man and a good looking 30ish writer, who bond initially over surfing.
The movie's low budget shows but in general the acting is good (except for the truly dreadful final scene). A particularly appealing aspect of this movie is the fact that the dialogue is realistic and smart.
I don't recall the word "love" being used once, even though many of its varieties are gracefully explored.
