Review of Shelter (2007) by Carlos M — 20 Feb 2012
Rather surprised at the low critics rating of this film. Granted, it's no classic, but it's also not the typical, cliche-ridden gay indie film. You know the ones I'm talking about - there's always at least one drag queen, an extremely flaming best friend and someone has to die.
Not here. The acting is very good, particularly Wright, Rowe and Holmes. Does the gay community need more films about life after coming out? Sure, but there's nothing wrong with yet another good film about the process.
Recommended for everyone - the R rating is mostly for language. The one sex scene is pretty tame; there is no nudity below the waist except for a shower scene seen through opaque glass, meaning you don't really see anything.
