Review of Shelter (2007) by Robert K — 10 Jun 2009
It could have been just another movie with the same storyline- the protagonist meets a gay guy and the ensuing events results in the discovery of his own sexuality. However, what stops this movie from becoming just another gay centered movie is the sheer chemistry between Brad Rowe and Trevor Wright.
Their superb performance is what holds the movie together and pulls it through. They convince you that they are every bit the gay couple the movie is trying to portray. You are made to feel every bit of the frustrations and distress that they are going through.
At the end, you are conveniently convinced that Cody couldn't get a better family than Shaun and Zach. Minus the overtones of stereotypes that you usually find in most gay centered movies, this movie brings to you a new and refreshing insight into the world of gay relationships.
Loved it.
