Review of She Wore a Yellow Ribbon (1949) by Andreas O — 27 Mar 2011
John Wayne shows his colors in this western classic, playing a character near 20 years older than him to great effect. Waynes performance and the advanced feel of the film amazes me - upon watching this the first time I could not believe it was made as early as 1949! It adresses the relationship between the U.
S. Army and the native Americans and manages to be fairly sensitive in its approach. The no bloodshed-ending is superb, in my point of view.
